Background
Passions for music, film and remote areas of the world gave birth to what became the Oxford University Expedition to Tibet 2005.
These were personal interests of the expedition leader and were coupled with an entrepreneurial spirit and an awareness of opportunities offered by the Oxford University Expedition Council and the Royal Geographical Society.
The basic idea of a musicological expedition to some part of Central Asia emerged early in summer 2004.
